Denise Neumann-Fuhr – Transformational Coach

THIS POST is written amidst the intense heat that now defines summer in Canada. I say that with some grief, I won’t lie. As the reality of environmental devastation unfolds, I’m awakening to a new depth of love for the natural world not previously imagined. Catalyzed in large part, by my soul shattering experience at Ekone Ranch last April, I have entered new territory in my relationship with this gorgeously animate world. This is how it maps out…

I’m leaning “hard and deep” into the message of last spring (post vision fast) with some tendrils of thought arising regarding the unpredictable and profound nature of healing. I begin with this stanza from Leonard Cohen’s “Anthem” that reads:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in

When one is ripe and ready for change, a crack appears in the internal viewfinder that frames our vision of life. It pierces our blind spots – those unconscious blockers that keep us from living the fullness of our lives for the sake of safety, security, conformity. Seeing with greater clarity the outmoded ways of being that impede growth, is an enormous opportunity and a profound commitment to Self. This is about awakening to the authentic nature we were born to live. And this is the purpose of life.

Astrologer Pam Gregory speaks to this in her Full Moon forecast for August 9, 2025. See: https://youtu.be/fwhq_gph57M?si=Uapvih_nP95FxLhS. Given its position in Aquarius, what’s arising now as a collective evolutionary edge is the cultivation of not just freedom, independence, and collaboration, but most importantly, truth, authenticity, honesty, and being who we really are.

My 12-day experience at Ekone Ranch last April, has brought me to this edge. It cracked me open, pierced my blinders, and forged a path for light to penetrate deep into old layers of conditioning for transmutation. While eager for the shift, I’d be lying if I said it is unfolding in predictable and easy ways. Whenever we look to transform aspects of ourselves that no longer serve us in our present reality, there will be a backlash. It might take the form of anxiety or confusion, fear or agitation, maybe depression or grief… regardless of the form it takes, these feelings are telltail signs that our protectors are working hard to maintain the status quo… not change it. To change means risking all of the apparent “safety” that our managing parts have manufactured over the course of a lifetime. Letting go doesn’t come easy.

And so, the bell has tolled and I find myself standing deep in the woods, facing unfamiliar terrain that is both dark and illumined, liberating, scary and filled with potential. Not unlike the photo that introduces this newsletter, this journey of mine is one of both beauty and risk. It has to be. That’s how we live fully into the mystery that is life.

Where has this led me?
What shores do I now stand upon?

I’m not sure because I haven’t yet reached the other side. One might call this place I’m in a kind of Bardo – a Buddhist term that references the place between death and rebirth – it’s application feeling poignant and applicable to my circumstances. A kind of numinous quality defines this space of not knowing who I am anymore. My vision is more acute now, seeing ways of being that no longer feel aligned. A kind of excited anticipation feels palpable too as I notice differently, choose differently, and connect with with the broader palette that is life…including, and most especially, life defined by the natural world. On a recent call, my Ekone guide challenged me to…

“begin viewing nature less as a backdrop,
and more as a sovereign being with desire, and her own creative process.”

I love that!

I believe that we’re all invited to enter this place – a space of quite where the voice of the Soul meets the sovereignty of nature. But we desperately need to slow down. We need to remember that we are but a part of a greater collective intelligence.

As old layers of conditioning are alchemized, space is made for something new to arise. Space gives way to clarity, and clarity gives way to remembering. As I lean deeper into this strange kind of knowing, I find myself better able to engage with Mother Gaia differently… and it feels enchanting!

I close with a beautiful poem written for me by my dear friend Cara Sullivan, called…

The Universe Thanks You
a rush of swans overhead
six otter float by
they’re not concerned with you
can you hear the beaver gnawing on the tree trunk?
red teeth slicing through bark
some bird you don’t know the name of gives a familiar call
you’ve heard it a thousand times
it’s not concerned with you
but the universe is glad you are there
it feels some satisfaction that, in all the panoply of forms it threw out there
dinosaurs and horseshoe crabs, seahorse and moray eels
figs and fogs, copper seams glowing in the depths,
out of all that spewing, you turned up
and you see what the universe has done
somehow something is completed by your seeing and your hearing
and the universe thinks, I can relax now. my work is done.
